Description

The Green A4988 Stepper Motor Driver Module is a compact and efficient microstepping motor driver designed for controlling bipolar stepper motors in applications such as 3D printers, CNC machines, robotics, and automation systems. The module features an integrated translator and current control system, simplifying stepper motor control using only STEP and DIR interface signals.

Operating from 8V to 35V DC, the A4988 driver can deliver up to 1A per phase without additional cooling and up to 2A per phase when used with proper heatsinking and airflow. The module incorporates fixed off-time current regulation with automatic current decay mode selection, supporting both slow and mixed decay modes for improved motor performance.

The advanced mixed decay current control system helps reduce audible motor noise, improve stepping accuracy, and lower overall power consumption. Integrated synchronous rectification circuitry further enhances PWM efficiency during operation.

Built-in protection features include thermal shutdown, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), crossover current protection, ground fault protection, and short-circuit protection for reliable and safe operation.

The driver supports multiple microstepping modes including full-step, half-step, quarter-step, eighth-step, and sixteenth-step operation, enabling smooth and precise motor movement.

Note: Connecting or disconnecting the stepper motor while the driver is powered may damage the driver module. Always power off the system before changing motor connections.
