Description
The TL Smoother Addon Module is designed to improve stepper motor performance in 3D printers and motion control systems by reducing vibration, motor noise, and uneven movement. It is commonly used with stepper motor drivers such as DRV8825 and A4988 to minimize ripple effects and improve print quality.
The module works by smoothing the current signal delivered to the stepper motor through onboard flyback diodes, helping reduce mechanical chatter and eliminating irregular wave patterns during low-speed operation. This results in smoother motor movement, quieter operation, and improved surface finish in 3D printed models.
The TL Smoother is especially effective in Delta-style 3D printers and other high-speed motion systems where stepper motor vibration can affect printing accuracy. It also provides protection against inductive voltage spikes generated by motors when the driver is unpowered.
Compatible with DRV8825 and A4988 stepper motor drivers, this module can be easily installed between the controller board and the stepper motor driver using the included cable connections.
Note: TL Smoother modules may provide limited improvement when used with advanced Trinamic drivers featuring technologies such as SpreadCycle and StealthChop, as these drivers already include built-in motor smoothing features.
