The Enhanced Cytron 40A DC Motor Driver (MDS40B) is a high-power, single-channel motion control solution engineered for demanding industrial environments and competitive robotics. Building upon the proven architecture of its predecessor, the MDS40B features an expanded operating voltage range of 10V to 45V DC, capable of sustaining 40A continuous current and 80A peak surges. This makes it an ideal driver for high-torque starter motors and medium-to-high-power brushed DC motors.
The MDS40B integrates a high-performance microcontroller unit, enabling sophisticated features such as active thermal protection, real-time current limiting, and versatile multi-mode inputs including PWM, UART, Analog, and RC servo signals. Designed for efficiency and ease of integration, the unit utilizes a 16kHz switching frequency for silent operation and features a high-efficiency switching regulator to provide a stable 5V supply for external controllers. With the addition of an active activation/deactivation terminal, system architects can eliminate the need for cumbersome high-power mechanical switches, streamlining the design of mission-critical control systems.
Note: This driver does not include reverse-polarity protection. Exercise strict caution when wiring power inputs. For optimal performance under load, we strongly recommend using AWG14 or higher-rated multi-core cabling.
