SPIDER Automation STM32F3348-DISCO STM32F334 Discovery Kit
Description
SPIDER Automation STM32F3348-DISCO STM32F334 Discovery Kit is an easy-to-use, cost-effective development board built around the STM32F334 line of microcontrollers. Designed to fast-track evaluation and prototyping with high-performance ARM® 32-bit Cortex®-M4 architecture, it is powered by the STM32F334C8T6 microcontroller running at up to 72 MHz. The core features a dedicated Floating Point Unit (FPU), single-cycle multiplication, and hardware division, making it exceptionally well-suited for math-intensive embedded algorithms, digital power conversion, and motor control.
The discovery kit comes fully loaded with onboard hardware resources, including an integrated ST-LINK/V2-1 debugger/programmer with a mode selection switch that lets you use the board as a standalone programmer for external STM32 targets. It also incorporates specialized power-management circuitry such as high-brightness LED dimming buck converters and buck/boost converter stages. With USB re-enumeration capability supporting three distinct interfaces, power delivery via USB bus or an external 5V supply, and full LQFP48 I/O extension headers for effortless oscilloscope probing and breadboard connection, the STM32F3348-DISCO offers everything required for advanced mixed-signal experimentation right out of the box.
Key Features
- ARM® Cortex®-M4 32-bit Core: Features an FPU operating at up to 72 MHz, single-cycle multiplication, and hardware division instructions.
- Embedded ST-LINK/V2-1 Debugger: Provides USB debugging and programming capabilities with a mode switch to act as a standalone ST-LINK/V2-1 tool.
- Versatile USB Connectivity: Supports USB re-enumeration with three different interface profiles (Virtual COM port, mass storage, debug port).
- Onboard Power Conversion Hardware: Includes specialized circuits for high-brightness LED dimming via a buck converter, plus buck/boost power supplies.
- Flexible Power Supply: Can be powered directly through the USB bus or via an external 5V source.
- Prototyping Extension Headers: Full LQFP48 I/O pin breakouts for quick connections to prototyping boards and easy signal probing.
- User Interface Elements: Equipped with two push-buttons (one dedicated user button and one hardware reset button).
Benefits
- Turnkey Debugging: Built-in ST-LINK/V2-1 eliminates the need for separate programmer purchases or complex cable wiring.
- Digital Power Specialization: Ideal for evaluating advanced power conversion, SMPS control loops, and lighting ballasts due to its onboard buck/boost hardware.
- Standalone Utility: Dual-purpose ST-LINK header allows you to program other STM32 chips on separate custom boards.
- Instant Prototyping: Convenient header pinouts let developers hook up jumper wires and test code immediately.
Applications
- Digital Power Supplies & SMPS: Prototyping buck, boost, and buck-boost power conversion algorithms.
- LED Lighting Control: Designing high-brightness LED dimming systems and multi-channel lighting drivers.
- Motor Control & Inverters: Implementing precise pulse-width modulation (PWM) and closed-loop control routines.
- Embedded Systems Education: University engineering labs teaching ARM Cortex-M4 programming, digital signal processing, and mixed-signal design.
- General Microcontroller Evaluation: Rapid testing of STM32F3 peripheral sets, high-speed ADCs, and timers.
