Description
The SN74HC138PWRG4 is a high-speed CMOS 3-to-8 line decoder/demultiplexer. It accepts three binary weighted inputs (A0, A1, A2) and, when enabled, provides eight mutually exclusive active-LOW outputs. This device is widely used in high-performance memory decoding or data routing applications where a small number of inputs need to control a larger number of output lines.
The device features three enable inputs: two active-LOW (G2A-bar and G2B-bar) and one active-HIGH (G1). All three enable inputs must be in their active state for the outputs to follow the binary code; otherwise, all outputs remain HIGH (inactive). This flexible enabling logic makes it very easy to cascade multiple decoders to expand address decoding capabilities.
