Description
The 74HC86 is a high-speed CMOS quad 2-input EXCLUSIVE-OR (XOR) gate. In an XOR gate, the output is HIGH only when the two inputs are at different logic levels (one is HIGH and the other is LOW). If both inputs are the same (both HIGH or both LOW), the output is LOW.
This IC features input clamping diodes that protect the device from voltage transients and allow for the use of current-limiting resistors when interfacing with voltages that exceed the supply voltage (VCC). Its fast switching speeds and reliable performance make it an essential component for digital arithmetic, error detection, and logic control applications.
