Description
The 74LS173 is a 4-bit D-type register designed for high-speed digital data storage. It features parallel inputs and parallel 3-state outputs, which allow the device to be easily connected to common data buses in microprocessor or microcontroller systems. The “3-state” capability means the outputs can be placed in a high-impedance (Hi-Z) state, effectively disconnecting the IC from the bus when it is not being read.
The device includes gated enable inputs for both the clock and the data, providing flexible control over when data is loaded into the register. Its Low-power Schottky (LS) TTL construction ensures high-speed performance, making it ideal for high-throughput digital systems.
