Description

The 74HC14 is a high-speed, silicon-gate CMOS hex inverting buffer featuring Schmitt-trigger inputs. It is designed to transform slow-moving or noisy input waveforms into sharp, fast-switching digital outputs. By utilizing internal hysteresis, the device effectively cleans up signals that are otherwise too degraded for standard CMOS logic gates to process reliably.

Because it is an inverting buffer, a HIGH input produces a LOW output and vice versa. It is widely used in applications where signal conditioning is required to prevent “chatter” or false triggering in high-speed digital systems.
