Description
The 74LS147 is a high-speed TTL 10-to-4 Line Priority Encoder. It converts ten active-LOW decimal inputs (0–9) into a 4-line BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) output. This device is a “priority” encoder, meaning that if multiple inputs are active simultaneously, the device will prioritize the input with the highest numerical value, ignoring the others.
This functionality is essential for keyboard interfaces, sensor arrays, or any system where multiple inputs compete for a single data bus, and a clear, dominant signal is required. The outputs represent the BCD equivalent of the highest active input, providing an efficient way to encode decimal data into a binary format.
