Description
The TP4056 1A Li-Ion Lithium Battery Charging Module with Current Protection is a compact, highly reliable linear charging and protection board designed for single-cell 3.7V lithium-ion cells (such as 18650 or 16550 types) that lack internal protection circuitry. Equipped with an onboard Mini-B USB port and dedicated solder pads, it provides a complete dual-IC power management solution utilizing the TP4056 charger chip and a DW01 battery protection IC.
The module delivers up to a programmable 1A charging current, automatically cutting off when the battery reaches its 4.2V full float voltage. For discharge and safety, the DW01 protection IC automatically switches the load off if battery voltage drops below ~2.4V to prevent deep discharge, while also protecting against over-voltage and overcurrent faults.
Note: Product design, layout markings, or LED indicator colors (Red/Green vs. Red/Blue) may vary slightly based on manufacturing batches. Always disconnect the load from OUT+/OUT- when charging the battery. Battery and cables are not included.
Key Features
- Dual-IC Architecture (TP4056 + DW01): Combines precision linear charging with comprehensive battery protection against over-discharge, overcurrent, and over-voltage.
- Mini-B USB & Solder Pad Inputs: Powered conveniently via standard Mini-B USB cables or direct 5V DC connected to the IN+/IN- input pads.
- Programmable 1A Charging Current: Set to a 1.0A default charging rate, easily adjustable for smaller battery capacities by swapping the programming resistor.
- Integrated Load & Battery Terminals: Separate dedicated pads for battery connection (B+/B-) and load output (OUT+/OUT-) for safe, structured wiring.
- Dual-Color Status Telemetry: Onboard LEDs visually indicate operating status (Red LED for charging in progress; Green/Blue LED for full charge completion).
- Compact Breakout Footprint: Measures 30 mm in length with a low 6 mm height profile for seamless integration into portable enclosures and DIY builds.
Benefits
- Complete Cell Safety: Built-in under-voltage lockout and current protection prevent cell degradation, thermal stress, and battery damage.
- Convenient Recharging: Easily plug into computer USB ports or standard 5V wall chargers using ubiquitous Mini-B cables.
- Autonomous Operation: Automatic full-charge termination and recharge cycles eliminate the need for manual oversight during power maintenance.
- Streamlined Prototyping: Clear pin labeling (IN, OUT, B) makes wiring custom battery packs and portable gadgets clean and straightforward.
Applications
- Single-Cell LiPo & Li-Ion Packs: Essential charging and protection controller board for unprotected 3.7V lithium-ion cylindrical and pouch cells.
- Portable Electronic Devices: Custom power management for handheld gadgets, mini flashlights, and portable field instruments.
- Maker & DIY Electronics: Ideal charging module for Arduino projects, IoT sensor nodes, and custom enclosures.
- Rechargeable USB Gadgets: Internal charging circuit integration for small USB-powered tools and hobby electronics.
