Description
The Sabertooth Dual 5A Motor Driver for R/C is a high-performance dual-channel motor controller designed specifically for radio-controlled vehicles and mobile robotics applications. It is optimized for small to medium robotic platforms including Antweight and Beetleweight combat robots, as well as RC cars, boats, and tank-style differential drive systems.
Each channel is capable of delivering up to 5A continuous current, with peak currents reaching up to 10A for short durations. The driver incorporates advanced thermal and overcurrent protection mechanisms, ensuring reliable operation even under motor stall or overload conditions.
This R/C version includes advanced control features such as exponential response curves, auto-calibration, channel inversion, and built-in motor mixing for differential drive systems. Operating modes are configured via onboard DIP switches, eliminating the need for external jumpers and simplifying setup.
The Sabertooth driver utilizes synchronous regenerative drive technology, which feeds energy back into the power source during deceleration or reverse operation. This improves overall efficiency and enables fast, responsive braking and direction changes.
It also includes a built-in 5V BEC to power microcontrollers or RC receivers directly. The lithium battery protection mode ensures safe operation with Li-ion, Li-Po, NiMH, and lead-acid battery configurations within supported ranges.
