SPIDER Automation Official Raspberry Pi IQaudio Codec Zero | Audio HAT | For Raspberry Pi Zero & Compact Audio Projects
Description
SPIDER Automation Official Raspberry Pi IQaudio Codec Zero is an ultra-compact audio expansion board engineered to bring professional-grade sound input and output capabilities to the Raspberry Pi Zero form factor. Conforming to the Raspberry Pi HAT specification with an onboard EEPROM for automatic Linux environment configuration, it delivers bi-directional digital audio via the low-overhead I2S bus.
At its core is the Dialog Semiconductor DA7212 codec, offering 24-bit audio resolution, automatic level control (ALC), and an integrated 5-band equalizer. Complete with an onboard MEMS microphone, a built-in 1.2W mono speaker driver, auxiliary RCA inputs, a 3.5mm headphone jack, status LEDs, and a tactile control button, it provides a powerful, self-contained platform for voice applications and smart audio devices.

Key Features
- Dialog DA7212 Audio Codec: High-performance 24-bit digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital signal processing.
- Flexible Sample Rates: Supports common audio rates ranging from 8kHz up to 96kHz.
- Integrated MEMS Microphone: Onboard microphone with automatic disabling when an external mic is detected.
- Electret Mic Support: Dedicated connection terminals for mono electret microphones.
- Stereo Auxiliary Line-In: Phono / RCA connectors for connecting external audio sources.
- 3.5mm Headphone & Aux Out: Standard stereo jack for personal listening and line-level output.
- 1.2W Mono Speaker Driver: Capable of driving an 8-ohm mini speaker directly at 5V (THD < 10%).
- User Interface Elements: Includes a programmable tactile button (GPIO27) and dual green (GPIO23) / red (GPIO24) status LEDs.
- HAT EEPROM Support: Enables automatic device tree configuration under modern Raspberry Pi OS environments.
Benefits
- Ultra-Compact Footprint: Matches the exact dimensions of the Raspberry Pi Zero while remaining fully compatible with larger Pi models.
- Complete Voice & Audio Toolkit: Combines input microphones, signal mixing, EQ processing, and speaker amplification on one board.
- Low CPU Overhead: Communicates via direct I2S digital signals to bypass USB audio bottlenecks.
- Solder-Free Integration: Mounts securely onto standard pin headers for instant plug-and-play deployment.
- Advanced DSP Features: Built-in Automatic Level Control and 5-band equalization for fine-tuned acoustic output.
Applications
- Smart Speakers & Voice Assistants: Build custom voice-activated media hubs and conversational interfaces.
- Intelligent Doorbells & Intercoms: Compact two-way communication systems and digital paging units.
- Walkie-Talkie & Radio Projects: Portable bi-directional audio transceivers and retro radio modernizations.
- IoT Sound Alert Nodes: Embedded environmental monitors providing audio feedback or voice prompts.
