Description

The MCP4821T-E/MS is a high-precision, 12-bit buffered voltage output Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). Engineered for performance and versatility, it operates from a single supply voltage ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V. This device features a high-precision internal voltage reference, allowing users to configure the full-scale range to either 2.048V or 4.096V via a gain selection bit.

Designed with a resistive string architecture, the MCP4821 offers excellent linearity, low DNL error, and a fast settling time of just 4.5 µs. It includes a double-buffered register system that enables synchronous updates of the DAC output using the LDAC pin. For power-sensitive applications, the device features a flexible shutdown mode that disables internal circuits, including the output amplifier, to significantly reduce power consumption.

The device communicates via an SPI-compatible serial interface supporting clock speeds up to 20 MHz, ensuring seamless integration with modern microcontrollers. Its rail-to-rail output capability and small form factor make it an ideal solution for precision voltage control, sensor calibration, and battery-powered portable instrumentation.
