Description
The CD4020 is a high-voltage CMOS 14-stage ripple-carry binary counter/divider. It is a highly efficient device for frequency division and counting applications, providing outputs for stages 1 and 4 through 14. Because it is a ripple-carry counter, each stage triggers the next based on the transition of the previous stage, creating a binary sequence that effectively divides the input frequency.
This device features a reset (RESET) input that, when driven HIGH, clears all counter stages to zero. The counter advances on the negative-going transition of the clock pulse. Due to its wide supply voltage range (up to 15V), it is well-suited for industrial control systems and high-voltage digital logic environments.
