Description
The 74HC257 is a high-speed, silicon-gate CMOS Quad 2-Input Multiplexer featuring 3-state outputs. This device selects four bits of data from two independent sources (A or B) and steers them to four common outputs (Y) under the control of a common Select (S) input.
Because the device features 3-state outputs, it is highly optimized for bus-oriented systems, allowing multiple multiplexers to be connected to the same bus line without signal contention. When the Output Enable (OE) input is set to HIGH, the outputs enter a high-impedance (OFF) state, effectively disconnecting the IC from the bus.
