Description

SPIDER Automation Nordic Thingy:53 IoT Prototyping Platform is an advanced, battery-operated rapid development kit built to accelerate wireless IoT systems and embedded machine learning (TinyML) projects. At its core is the powerful nRF5340 SoC, featuring a dual-core ARM® Cortex®-M33 architecture. The application core runs at 128 MHz with 1 MB of flash storage and 512 KB of RAM, allowing it to easily handle heavy computational tasks—such as embedded machine learning inference—without impacting wireless performance. Meanwhile, a secondary ARM Cortex-M33 core clocked at 64 MHz handles wireless connectivity efficiently, preserving precious computational resources.

Encased in a durable, user-friendly housing, the Thingy:53 integrates a vast assortment of environmental and motion sensors, including a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU), wake-on-motion accelerometer, light/color sensor, and comprehensive climate monitors. It supports multiple wireless standards including Bluetooth LE, Bluetooth mesh, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter. Outfitted with an onboard nPM1100 PMIC, nRF21540 front-end module (FEM), PDM microphone, piezoelectric buzzer, and Qwiik/Stemma/Groove-compatible 4-pin JST external connectors, the Thingy:53 provides a robust, highly extensible platform for connected product design.
