SparkFun Qwiic Pro Micro USB-C | ATmega32U4 16MHz | Arduino-Compatible Development Board
Description
The (SPIDER Automation) SparkFun Qwiic Pro Micro – USB-C is an enhanced revision of the traditional Pro Micro layout, preserving the exact same compact footprint while integrating modern connectivity and usability upgrades. Built around the powerful ATmega32U4 microcontroller running at 5V and 16MHz, this tiny board performs all your favorite Arduino tricks with native USB device support.
This revised iteration shrinks down onboard components to fit a modern USB-C programming port, a dedicated tactile reset button, and a 4-pin Qwiic I2C connector for rapid peripheral integration without soldering. Featuring castellated PTH pads alongside standard through-holes, it provides flexible mounting options for both breadboard prototyping and surface-mount integration into custom hardware designs.
Key Features
- ATmega32U4 Microcontroller: Operates at 5V and 16MHz with 32KB flash memory, 2.5KB SRAM, and 1KB EEPROM.
- Reversible USB-C Port: Modern data and power interface replacing older micro-USB connectors.
- Integrated Qwiic Ecosystem: Onboard 4-pin connector allows instant daisy-chaining of I2C sensors and breakout boards.
- Tactile Reset Button: Added hardware reset switch for effortless bootloader entry and sketch re-flashing.
- Castellated PTH Pads: Edge plating enables solder-reflow mounting directly onto carrier circuit boards.
- Versatile I/O Array: Includes 12 digital I/O pins, 9 channels of 10-bit ADC, 5 PWM pins, and hardware Rx/Tx serial interfaces.
Benefits
- Native USB HID Capabilities: Program the board to act as a USB keyboard, mouse, or MIDI interface directly out of the box.
- Plug-and-Play I2C Wiring: Eliminate breadboard wiring clutter for compatible sensors using the standardized Qwiic connector.
- Ultra-Compact Form Factor: Fits effortlessly into wearable electronics, handheld devices, and tight physical enclosures.
- Flexible Power Input: Onboard voltage regulator accepts up to 6VDC via the RAW pin for battery or unregulated power supplies.
- Backward Compatible: Retains standard Pro Micro pinouts and Arduino IDE compatibility for seamless code migration.
- Robust Construction: High-quality components and durable edge connections ensure long-term mechanical reliability.
Applications
