Description
The DS75176B / SN75176N is a high-speed, differential TRI-STATE bus/line transceiver designed to meet the rigorous requirements of the EIA standard RS-485 for multipoint data transmission. It is also fully compatible with RS-422 standards, making it highly versatile for various industrial serial communication tasks.
This transceiver features an extended common-mode range of +12V to -7V, allowing for reliable communication even when there is a significant ground potential difference between devices on the bus. It includes TRI-STATE capability for both driver and receiver outputs, and incorporates a thermal shutdown circuit to protect the device against bus contention or fault situations by forcing driver outputs into a high-impedance state. Designed for efficiency, it allows up to 32 transceivers to operate on a single bus.
