Description
The SN74LS47N is a specialized TTL integrated circuit designed to accept a 4-bit Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) input and decode it into the appropriate signals to drive a common-anode 7-segment LED display. It features “open-collector” outputs, which are capable of sinking up to 24mA, allowing it to drive many common LED displays directly without external transistors.
Beyond simple decoding, the IC includes lamp-test (LT-bar) and blanking inputs/ripple-blanking outputs (BI/RBO-bar), which facilitate display testing and leading/trailing zero suppression in multi-digit display applications.
