Description
The MM74HC174MX is a high-speed, hex D-type flip-flop utilizing silicon-gate CMOS technology. It features six independent D-type flip-flops that share a common buffered clock (CP) and a common buffered asynchronous Master Reset (MR) input. This device is designed for high-density data storage where multiple bits of information need to be captured and synchronized simultaneously.
When the MR input is held LOW, all six outputs are immediately forced to a LOW state, regardless of the clock or data input. On the rising edge of the clock signal, the data at each D-input is transferred to its corresponding Q-output. Its high noise immunity and low power consumption make it ideal for integration into complex digital registers and sequential logic circuits.

Features
- Hex Flip-Flop: Six independent D-type flip-flops integrated into a single 16-pin package.
- Synchronous Operation: Common buffered clock ensures all bits are captured on the same clock edge.
- Asynchronous Master Reset: Common MR input allows for instant clearing of the entire 6-bit register.
- CMOS Efficiency: High performance with the low power consumption and high noise immunity of CMOS.
- Logic Compatibility: Fully compatible with standard HC-series CMOS logic families.
- Package: SOIC-16 (SMD) package designed for automated surface-mount assembly.
Benefits
- Compact Register Design: Provides a space-efficient way to implement a 6-bit wide storage register.
- Simplified Control: Common clock and reset inputs reduce the amount of routing required on the PCB.
- Reliable State Management: The asynchronous reset allows for predictable system initialization during power-up.
Applications
- Parallel Data Storage: Buffering 6-bit wide data segments in micro-controller interfaces.
- Sequential Logic: Used in counters, shift registers, and state machines.
- Bus Buffering: Managing data flow between different digital subsystems.
