Description
The ESP8285 is a highly integrated Wi-Fi System-on-Chip (SoC) designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern IoT applications, specifically where compact form factors and efficient power usage are critical. It features a built-in 1MB flash memory, which simplifies PCB design by removing the need for external flash components.
The device is powered by the Tensilica L106 32-bit RISC processor. It offers extreme versatility: it can function as a standalone application processor that boots directly from its internal flash, or it can serve as a Wi-Fi coprocessor for another host microcontroller via SPI, SDIO, or UART interfaces. Its high-speed cache architecture ensures smooth performance for networking stacks and application logic.
