Description

The Adafruit High Voltage UPDI Friend is a compact USB serial programming interface designed to simplify programming and communication with modern ATtiny microcontrollers that use the UPDI programming interface. It provides a convenient bridge between a computer and the target microcontroller, making it suitable for embedded firmware development, programming, prototyping and development-board workflows.

The programmer supports selectable 3V and 5V power and logic levels, allowing it to interface with target systems operating at different logic voltages. Its integrated CH340E USB serial converter provides computer connectivity, while the USB Type-C connector handles the board’s power and data connection.

For target-side connectivity, the board includes a JST SH cable and 0.1-inch spaced breakout holes for custom wiring. A 1K loop-back resistor is provided between the RX and TX lines, while dedicated green and red LEDs provide power and serial-activity indication during operation.
