SPIDER Automation Adafruit Feather RP2040 | Dual-Core RP2040 & 8MB SPI Flash | For Embedded Control & Portable Systems

Description

The Adafruit Feather RP2040 is a compact, high-performance microcontroller development board based on the Raspberry Pi RP2040 dual-core Cortex-M0+ processor. It combines substantial processing capability with the compact Feather form factor, making it suitable for embedded control systems where board size, peripheral flexibility and portable power are important considerations.

The board integrates 264KB of on-chip SRAM and 8MB of SPI Flash, providing sufficient memory and storage for embedded firmware, CircuitPython/MicroPython applications, data logging and compact control software. The RP2040 operates with 3.3V logic and power and provides a wide range of programmable peripherals through its multifunction GPIO architecture.

For peripheral integration, the Feather RP2040 provides 21 multifunction GPIO pins, 12-bit ADC capability, 16 PWM channels, two UART controllers, two SPI controllers and two I2C controllers. It also includes a STEMMA QT/Qwiic-compatible I2C connector, allowing compatible peripheral devices to be connected through a compact plug-and-play interface.

A key feature of the RP2040 is its Programmable I/O (PIO) system. The board provides two PIO peripherals containing a total of eight state machines, allowing developers to implement custom communication protocols, precise timing interfaces, display interfaces and other hardware functions without placing the entire workload on the main CPU cores.
