Description
The Adafruit 555 PWM Output STEMMA is a fully assembled frequency-generation board designed to provide an adjustable PWM square-wave output for electronic and embedded applications. It uses a 555 timer-based circuit together with a 74HC1G04 buffer to provide a practical, adjustable digital signal source without requiring users to build a complete timer circuit from discrete components.
The board provides two selectable frequency ranges of approximately 1.5–25kHz and 1.5–250Hz. Frequency adjustment is performed using the onboard trimmer potentiometer, allowing the output to be tuned for applications requiring a specific square-wave frequency.
The buffered DC square-wave output can source or sink up to 12.5mA. The board operates from a 3–12V DC power supply, while its onboard regulation maintains the appropriate voltage for the 555 timer and output buffer circuitry.
Connection is simplified through the STEMMA JST PH 2mm interface, allowing compatible STEMMA cables to be used without soldering. The board is therefore suitable for signal-generation equipment, embedded electronics, audio-related applications, piezo buzzer driving, testing and development systems.
