Description

The 74LS139 is a high-speed Dual 2-to-4 line Decoder/Demultiplexer. It consists of two independent, high-speed, 2-to-4 line decoders in a single package. For each decoder, two binary inputs (A0, A1) are decoded into four mutually exclusive active-LOW outputs (Y0–Y3). Each decoder also features an active-LOW enable input (E-bar). When the enable input is HIGH, all four outputs of that decoder are forced to a HIGH state, effectively disabling the output.

This dual-channel configuration makes it highly efficient for memory address decoding or data demultiplexing applications where space is at a premium. Because it is part of the 74LS series, it utilizes Schottky-clamped transistors for fast switching speeds while maintaining low power consumption in 5V TTL systems.
