Description
The 74LS132 is a high-speed TTL device containing four independent 2-input NAND gates, each featuring Schmitt trigger inputs. Unlike standard logic gates that can suffer from unreliable output states when input signals transition slowly or contain noise, the Schmitt trigger inputs provide hysteresis.
This hysteresis ensures the device has two distinct input threshold voltages for rising and falling edges, effectively “squaring up” input signals. This makes the 74LS132 an ideal choice for applications involving noisy signals, mechanical switch debouncing, or cleaning up slowly transitioning pulse waveforms before they enter sensitive digital logic circuits.
