Description
The 74LS109 is a high-performance TTL integrated circuit containing two independent J-K positive-edge-triggered flip-flops. This device features asynchronous preset and clear inputs, which override the clock signal to directly set or reset the outputs. When the preset and clear pins are held HIGH (inactive), the device functions as a synchronous flip-flop, capturing data from the J and K inputs on the positive-going edge of the clock pulse.
The 74LS109 is highly versatile in digital design. By grounding the K input and tying the J input HIGH, it acts as a toggle flip-flop. Alternatively, by connecting the J and K inputs together, it functions as a D-type flip-flop. Built on the 74LS (Low-power Schottky) series, it provides an excellent balance of switching speed and power consumption for a variety of sequential logic tasks.
