Description

The 74HCT4020N is a 14-stage binary ripple counter. It is a high-speed, silicon-gate device that provides a powerful way to perform frequency division or event counting. The counter consists of 14 master-slave flip-flops that are internally cascaded, with the output of one flip-flop serving as the clock input for the next. This creates a “ripple” effect where the binary count increments with each negative-going transition of the clock pulse.

The device features an active-HIGH Master Reset (MR) input. When MR is driven HIGH, all stages are reset to zero, regardless of the clock signal.
