Description

The 74HC541 is a high-speed, octal non-inverting buffer/line driver featuring 3-state outputs. It is specifically designed to improve the performance and density of 3-state memory address drivers, clock drivers, and bus-oriented transmitters/receivers. The device includes two active-LOW output enable (OE) inputs (OE1 and OE2), which provide flexible control over the output state.

When either OE1 or OE2 is HIGH, the outputs are forced into a high-impedance (OFF) state, effectively disconnecting the IC from the data bus. When both are LOW, the device functions as a non-inverting buffer, passing the input data (A0–A7) directly to the outputs (Y0–Y7). The input structure includes clamp diodes, allowing for the use of current-limiting resistors to interface with signals exceeding the supply voltage (VCC).
