Description

The 74HC4050D,653 is a high-speed, silicon-gate CMOS hex non-inverting buffer. It contains six independent buffers that perform the Boolean function Y = A. A key characteristic of this device is its ability to perform high-to-low level shifting: the input voltage can be higher than the supply voltage (VCC), allowing you to interface logic circuits operating at different voltage levels—for example, shifting a 5V signal down to a 3.3V logic level.

Because these buffers are non-inverting and designed to handle input voltages up to 15V (regardless of VCC), they are frequently used as protective buffers or level translators in mixed-voltage digital systems.
