SPIDER Automation | 6S 18650 Lithium-Ion Battery Management System | 22.2V 15A Protection Board
Product Overview
SPIDER Automation 6S 18650 Lithium-Ion Battery Management System (BMS) is an electronic protection module designed for battery packs assembled using six lithium-ion cells connected in series. It monitors individual cell voltages and provides protection against abnormal battery operating conditions, including overcharging, over-discharging, excessive current and short circuits.
The 6S configuration supports a 22.2V nominal battery pack when using conventional 3.7V nominal lithium-ion cells, with a standard full-charge voltage of 25.2V. The board has a maximum discharge rating of 15A and supports an instantaneous discharge current of up to 25A, subject to the applicable load conditions and battery pack capabilities.
With defined cell-voltage protection thresholds, current-sensing functionality and low standby consumption, this protection board is suitable for appropriately designed 6S lithium-ion battery assemblies used in portable equipment, electronic projects and battery-powered systems.
Technical Features & Protection Functions

- Low Operating Consumption: Working current is ≤30µA.
- Low Sleep Current: Over-discharge sleep current is ≤10µA.
Electrical Configuration & Battery Voltage
This BMS is intended for a 6S lithium-ion battery configuration, in which six cells are connected in series. The resulting pack voltage depends on the individual cell voltage and battery chemistry.
| Battery Parameter | Voltage |
|---|---|
| Number of Series Cells | 6 Cells (6S) |
| Nominal Voltage Per Cell | 3.7V |
| Battery Pack Nominal Voltage | 22.2V |
| Full-Charge Voltage Per Cell | 4.2V |
| Battery Pack Full-Charge Voltage | 25.2V |
Important: This board is intended for conventional 4.2V-per-cell lithium-ion battery packs. Use a suitable 25.2V CC/CV charger for a standard 6S pack. The BMS is a protection circuit and does not function as a regulated DC voltage converter.
Current Ratings & Circuit Characteristics
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Maximum Discharge Current | 15A |
| Instantaneous Discharge Current | 25A |
| Maximum Charging Current | 15A |
| Overcurrent Detection Threshold | 150mV |
| Main Circuit Conduction Resistance | ≤20mΩ |
| Working Current | ≤30µA |
| Over-Discharge Sleep Current | ≤10µA |
The 15A maximum discharge rating and 25A instantaneous discharge rating represent different operating conditions. The instantaneous rating is intended for brief current peaks and should not be treated as a continuous operating current. The battery cells, wiring, connectors and connected load must also be rated for the intended current.
Cell Voltage Protection Thresholds
| Protection Parameter | Specification |

| Overcharge Detection Voltage | 4.28V ±0.05V per cell |
| Overcharge Protection Delay | 0.1 second |
| Overcharge Release Voltage | 4.08V ±0.05V per cell |
| Over-Discharge Detection Voltage | 2.55V ±0.08V per cell |
| Over-Discharge Protection Delay | 0.1 second |
| Over-Discharge Release Voltage | 2.9V ±0.1V per cell |
| Overcurrent Detection Voltage | 150mV |

Connection & Operating Recommendations
- Battery Configuration: Assemble six compatible lithium-ion cells in a 6S series configuration.
- Charging Supply: Use a dedicated 25.2V CC/CV lithium-ion charger suitable for a 6S battery pack.
- Discharge Loading: Keep continuous load current within the 15A maximum discharge rating.
- Peak Current: Treat 25A as an instantaneous rating, not a continuous operating current.
- Cell Selection: Use compatible cells with suitable discharge ratings and matching electrical characteristics.
- Wiring: Use battery wires, connectors and insulation suitable for the pack voltage and expected current.
- Motor Loads: Check motor startup and stall currents before using this BMS with drills, pumps or other motor-driven equipment.
- Pack Assembly: Follow the correct cell-tap sequence and PCB terminal markings when connecting the battery pack.
- Protection Function: This BMS provides battery protection; it does not replace a charger, voltage regulator or cell-balancing system unless those functions are explicitly provided by the board.
