SPIDER Automation | 18650 Single Cell Battery Spacer Holder | 18.5mm Bore, Interlocking Radiating Design
Product Overview & Modular Battery Assembly
The 18650 Single Cell Battery Spacer Holder is a modular cylindrical cell support designed to maintain the arrangement and spacing of individual 18650 lithium-ion batteries during custom battery pack construction. Each holder accommodates one compatible cell through its 18.5mm bore and can be connected with additional holders using the integrated edge slots.
Made from flame-retardant ABS plastic, the spacer features an open radiating structure and an interlocking design. These features make it suitable for assembling customized battery configurations where organized cell positioning, mechanical support and airflow around the cells are important.
Technical Features & Design Characteristics
- Single-Cell Configuration: Each spacer is designed to hold one cylindrical 18650 lithium-ion battery cell, allowing individual cells to be arranged in a controlled layout.
- 18.5mm Bore Diameter: The cell opening measures 18.5mm and is intended for compatible 18650 battery cells.
- Flame-Retardant ABS Construction: Manufactured from ABS plastic with flame-retardant properties, along with resistance to heat and cracking as specified by the supplier.
- Interlocking Edge Slots: Slots are provided along the holder edges so multiple units can be joined together. This allows battery builders to create different pack sizes, shapes and cell arrangements instead of being restricted to a fixed configuration.
- Radiating Spacer Structure: The open construction leaves clearance around the battery cells, helping air circulate through the assembled pack and supporting heat dissipation during operation.
- Cell Positioning Support: Individual holders help maintain the relative position and spacing of cells while preparing the battery assembly and making electrical connections.
- Nickel-Strip Welding Compatibility: The spacer arrangement supports organized cell positioning during nickel-strip welding. The completed pack’s mechanical stability also depends on proper welding, assembly and overall pack design.
Functional Advantages & Assembly Benefits
- Customizable Battery Pack Layouts: The interlocking design allows builders to extend or modify the arrangement according to the required battery pack dimensions and available installation space.
- More Secure Cell Arrangement: Installing spacers at both ends of the cells helps maintain their relative positions and creates a more organized mechanical assembly.
- Airflow Support During Operation: The radiating design provides open spaces around the cells, which can assist thermal management, particularly in battery packs operating under higher discharge loads.
- Reduced Assembly Complexity: Individual cell holders and their connecting slots make it easier to arrange multiple cylindrical cells before completing the electrical connections.
- Expandable Construction: Additional holders can be connected to build larger battery assemblies without relying on a single fixed-size spacer layout.
Applications & Battery Pack Projects
This single-cell spacer is intended for projects that use cylindrical 18650 lithium-ion cells and require a modular mechanical arrangement.
- E-Bike Battery Packs: For arranging 18650 cells in customized electric bicycle battery assemblies.
- Custom Lithium-Ion Packs: For building battery packs with different cell counts, dimensions and configurations.
- DIY Battery Assemblies: For hobbyists and battery builders developing custom rechargeable battery packs.
- Portable Power Systems: For organizing cylindrical cells in compatible portable power applications.
- Battery Pack Prototyping: For testing and developing different cell layouts before finalizing a battery enclosure.
Package Contents & Quantity Planning
- 1 × 18650 Single Cell Battery Spacer Holder
Important – Two Spacers Required Per Cell: Each 18650 battery cell requires two individual spacer holders: one installed at the top and one at the bottom. Since this product contains only one single-cell holder, two units must be purchased to support one complete battery cell from both ends.
For example, a battery pack containing 10 cells requires 20 individual single-cell spacer holders. Additional holders can be connected through their interlocking edge slots to create the required overall arrangement.
Items Not Included: 18650 lithium-ion battery cells, nickel strips, battery protection circuit (BMS), wiring and other battery assembly accessories are not included in the package.

Installation & Usage Recommendations
- Check Cell Compatibility: Confirm that the selected 18650 battery cell fits the holder’s 18.5mm bore.
- Position the Spacers: Install one holder at each end of the battery cell. Ensure that the cell is properly seated in both holders.
- Build the Required Layout: Connect additional holders through the interlocking edge slots to form the desired battery pack arrangement.
- Complete Cell Connections: Use suitable nickel strips and an appropriate spot-welding process to connect the battery cells according to the intended electrical configuration.
- Inspect the Finished Pack: Check cell alignment, polarity, insulation, weld quality and mechanical stability before putting the battery pack into service.
Safety Note: This product provides mechanical cell positioning only. It does not provide electrical insulation or battery protection functions such as overcharge, over-discharge and short-circuit protection. A suitable BMS, proper insulation and appropriate battery assembly procedures are necessary for a safe lithium-ion battery pack.
