SPIDER Automation | 720 Magnetic Micro Coreless Motor & 55mm Propeller Combo | 3.7V Micro Quadcopters

Description

The SPIDER Automation 720 Magnetic Micro Coreless Motor and 55mm Propeller Combo Set is a compact brushed DC propulsion package for lightweight micro multirotors and small quadcopter platforms. The 720 motor uses a magnetic coreless design intended for high rotational speed in a small form factor. Its specified 3.7V rated voltage makes it suitable for 1S battery-powered propulsion configurations.

Each motor has a stated diameter of 7mm, a body length of 20mm and a 1mm shaft diameter. The listed motor speed is 48,000–50,000 RPM. The motor is described as a high-speed, low-torque design, making propeller selection and the overall weight of the multirotor important considerations when designing a propulsion system.

The combo includes four motors and four black 55mm plastic propellers. The propellers are specified for compatibility with 720, 8520 and 615 coreless motors. This set is intended for four-motor micro quadcopter configurations, including approximately 100mm-class frames designed for brushed motor propulsion.

Key Features

  • Magnetic Coreless Motor Design: Compact brushed DC motor construction for small-scale propulsion systems.
  • High Rotational Speed: Listed rated speed of 48,000–50,000 RPM.
  • 1S Battery Operation: Designed around a 3.7V rated voltage for single-cell battery-powered platforms.
  • High-Speed, Low-Torque Characteristics: Intended for lightweight propulsion arrangements using appropriately matched micro propellers.
  • Compact Mechanical Profile: 7mm diameter motor body with a 20mm length and 1mm output shaft.
  • 55mm Propeller Compatibility: Supplied propellers are specified for 720, 8520 and 615 coreless motors.
  • High-Tenacity Plastic Propellers: Propeller material is described as having impact-resistant characteristics.
  • Four-Motor Package: Includes four motors and four propellers for a four-motor propulsion arrangement.

Motor Design & Performance Characteristics

The 720 motor is a miniature brushed DC coreless motor intended for applications where a compact motor body and high rotational speed are required. Its high-speed, low-torque operating characteristics should be considered when matching the motor with propeller diameter, blade geometry, battery capability and the total mass of the aircraft.

The motor is specified for a 3.7V rated supply and a stated operating current of 0.1A. Actual current consumption and rotational speed can vary with propeller loading, supply voltage, motor condition and operating conditions. The stated speed values should therefore be treated as supplied motor ratings rather than guaranteed installed-system performance.

55mm Propeller Design & Compatibility

The supplied propellers are 55mm black plastic propellers designed for miniature coreless motor applications. The source specifies compatibility with 720, 8520 and 615 coreless motor types. Their high-tenacity plastic construction is intended to provide resistance to impact during normal operation.

Propeller fitment should be checked against the actual motor shaft and hub dimensions before operation. Correct propeller orientation and rotation direction are also important when assembling a multirotor propulsion system.

Connection & Operating Recommendations

  • Supply Voltage: Operate the motors using a compatible 3.7V single-cell battery system. Do not apply a higher supply voltage without confirming the motor’s electrical limits.
  • Motor Driver Compatibility: Use a brushed DC motor driver or flight controller output stage rated for the motor’s voltage and current requirements.
  • Propeller Fitment: Confirm that the propeller hub fits the 1mm motor shaft securely before operation.
  • Propeller Orientation: Install the correct propeller type and orientation for each motor position according to the multirotor’s rotation arrangement.
  • Current and Load: Verify actual motor current under the selected propeller load before finalising the battery and motor-driver configuration.
  • Thermal Management: Avoid prolonged operation under excessive mechanical load or outside the stated -10°C to 50°C operating temperature range.
  • Mechanical Inspection: Check the motor mounting, shaft alignment and propeller condition before each operating session.
  • Bench Testing: Test motor direction and operation at low throttle with the propellers removed before completing the aircraft assembly.
