Description
The 74LS76 is a versatile dual JK flip-flop IC. Each of the two flip-flops operates independently and features J and K data inputs, a clock (CLK) input, and asynchronous PRESET (PRE) and CLEAR (CLR) inputs. This device is “negative edge-triggered,” meaning the flip-flop changes state on the HIGH-to-LOW transition of the clock signal.
The JK flip-flop is a fundamental sequential logic building block. Unlike D-type flip-flops, the JK configuration can “toggle” its output state when both J and K inputs are HIGH, making it exceptionally powerful for designing binary counters, shift registers, and complex state machines.
